Help build homes across the world

Last year, East Metro Team – Thrivent Financial and Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity teamed up and traveled to the Dominican Republic. They were able to build a home in just over a week for a deserving family. This year, we are ready to travel abroad again, and we want to invite you.

June 22-30, a team will go to Chimaltenango, Guatemala. The home you build will provide strength, stability, and self-reliance for a family in need. The cost of the trip is $1,470. plus airfare, $970. for Thrivent members. Don’t let the cost concern you; a generous donor has provided funds for scholarships and Thrivent has many fundraising resources available.

Habitat in Guatemala

Habitat for Humanity started working in Guatemala in 1979. Since then, Habitat Guatemala has helped more than 100,000 families with new home construction, incremental home improvements or repairs.

According to the Central American Association for Housing (AsociaciĆ³n Centroamericana para la Vivienda – ACENVI), the housing deficit in Guatemala exceeds 1.6 million households, including inadequate, rented and overcrowded housing. In addition, the need for basic services such as drinking water, sanitation, electricity and safe stoves in rural areas is very high.
