Meet Octavia + Olandria

Meet Octavia and her sister, Olandria (Octavia is on the right.) She was accepted as a future homeowner with Gwinnett Habitat for Humanity in December of 2017. We began working on her new home in April of 2019 and are wrapping it up this August. In the year between being accepted and beginning her build, she worked on sweat equity hours on other homes, helping to support anyone possible. This is our second Veteran’s Build, as Octavia is a Marine. It has been a joy working alongside so many supportive Veteran businesses to accomplish this dream of affordability and homeownership together.

Octavia’s sister, Olandria, will live with her. Olandria graduated high school in May of 2019. She is pursuing a career in real estate and is excited for this great opportunity alongside her sister. Together they have spent an abundance of hours working on all five builds this season.

Octavia is a chef by trade. She picked up her natural ability in the kitchen from her grandmother, who did all of the cooking. She honed those skills while serving in the Marine Corps, and then worked hard to immerse herself into the various culinary industries once entering the civilian world. Now, Octavia owns her own catering company, Soul Fresh Creations, specializing in healthy food. She does both full events and a la carte meals.
